Superglue: Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

Cyanoacrylate adhesives are better known as instant adhesives or superglue. They cure extremely quickly without the need for special curing equipment.

For superglue the esters of cyanoacrylic acid are used, which transform into the actual adhesive in the joint gap through a polymerization reaction. This curing reaction is initiated through absorption of moisture from the air on the adhesive and components’ surface.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives are especially suitable for small-surface bonds. Instant adhesives can also be used for many plastics and even sealing foams. They are not recommended, however, if the adhesive will be exposed to extreme moisture or heat.

With its Cyanolit® series Panacol offers a range of one-part cyanoacrylate adhesives.
